Reasons your dryer won t heat.
Gas powered dryer not heating.
In this video i use my maytag performa dryer as an example to show you the most common issues you can ha.
If any of the wiring going to any of the parts above are loose not connected or damaged this will cause the gas dryer to not heat.
For gas dryers make sure the dryer is connected to the gas supply and the shut off valve is open.
Is your dryer not heating or not turning on at all.
Occasionally this situation will allow the dryer to run but not heat due to only one fuse or breaker being tripped.
This video provides information on how to troubleshoot a gas dryer that is not heating and the most likely defective parts associated with.
To determine if one or more of the gas valve solenoids has failed check the igniter.
If the igniter glows and goes out but does not ignite the gas the gas valve solenoid is defective.
If a gas valve solenoid fails the dryer won t heat.
The gas valve solenoids open the gas valve ports to allow gas to flow into the burner assembly.
Electric dryers may experience no heat if there is insufficient power to the machine.
If your gas dryer is not heating then it is possible that thermal has blown and if this happens then the burner will not get any power supply.
Power supply or gas supply.
This is the most common cause of a dryer not heating.
3 reasons your dryer isn t heating.
For an electric dryer be sure you re using a 240 volt power supply.
If the igniter glows and goes out but does not ignite the gas the gas valve solenoid is defective.
The gas valve solenoids open the gas valve ports to allow gas to flow into the burner assembly.
If a gas valve solenoid fails the dryer won t heat.
To determine if one or more of the gas valve solenoids has failed check the igniter.
Improper or no electric or gas supply to the dryer.
Two legs of 120 volts ac or a total of 240 volts is needed for the dryer to run properly.
To check if your venting is clogged start a timed dry on high heat.
Normally the most common reason for the blown thermal fuse is that air circulation in the gas dryer is restricted or the venting system is clogged and hence heat is unable to escape.
