To install floor tile start by laying down some cement board if you re tiling over just a subfloor.
Remove tile spacers and spread grout on the tile surface forcing down into joints with a rubber grout float or squeegee.
Begin by installing tiles in the center of the room one grid at a time finishing each grid before moving on to the next.
Within each grid it will help to start the first tile in the corner and work outward.
Using a slight twisting motion set tiles one at a time and avoid sliding them into place.
Tilt the float at a 45 degree angle.
Remove excess grout from surface immediately with the edge of float.
Measure before you can begin the actual installation process you need to figure out how much ceramic tile you will need and how you should place it.
Trying to install floor tile against a protrusion will result in a sloppy looking project that won t pass the test of time.
Be sure to either insert spacers as each tile is set or leave equal joints between tiles.
Tilt it at a 90 degree angle and scrape it diagonally across tiles.
Then starting at the center of the room and working outward arrange all of the tiles in your desired pattern.
Cement board adds an additional step to your tile installation but it is integral to providing a solid substrate for your tile.
Step 3 installing cement boards on the sub floor because thinset doesn t bond well with plywood a sub floor isn t recommended as a starting place for tile installation.

Remove tile from the different boxes and randomly mix them to ensure that minor color differences don t form an unwanted pattern on your new floor.
